We are involved in many programs that benefit and assist our local community, provide personal, educational and career development opportunities for our youth and young adults and programs that recognise people’s achievements and their community involvement. We participate in a wide range of activities to help members of our local community, especially those who are disadvantaged.
By volunteering our time or fundraising we support several local organisations to help make an impact in the local community. Refer to events page for upcoming local activities
We have also directly impacted the local community by providing needed infrastructure or assets needed by the community. Some examples are below
Community accessible Defibrillators

Every day in Australia, one person every 15 minutes goes into sudden cardiac arrest. Around 32,000 people experience a cardiac arrest out of hospital each year and while 40 per cent have a bystander perform CPR, only 2 per cent have an AED used.(Heart Foundation website)
When CPR is performed and an AED is used within the first three to five minutes of a cardiac arrest, a person’s chance of survival increases up to 70 per cent.(Heart Foundation website)
We are installing five defibrillators in the local community:
While there is no training required to operate a defibrillator, if you need to use one it may be daunting. We have arranged for the Heart Foundation to conduct some defibrillator awareness sessions so you could operate one with more confidence.
The next session will be on 21 May at 1:30pm at the Dougherty Centre in Chatswood.
They are free to attend, however we do ask if you can scan the following image and complete the details so we have an idea of numbers.

Car boot sale
A car boot sale is an opportunity for residents to recycle clothes, toys, sporting equipment and other household goods. It is like a garage sale from the back of your car. Residents can hire a car parking space where they unload their car onto tables, racks and then offer their goods for sale. It is then free for the public to browse and purchase the recycled goods.
Our next car boot sale will be held on 2nd August, undercover at the Youth Centre Carpark, cnr Victor St and Albert Ave Chatswood. From 9am to 1 pm.
The terms and conditions for sellers participating in the car boot sale can be accessed here.

Supported several local charities at the Bendigo Bank community pitch
Bendigo Bank recently held a Pitch event, where 10 local charities “pitched” for funding from around 30 organisations, including the Rotary Club of Chatswood Roseville.
We helped support Mary’s House Services, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s shelter and ‘Dom’s Place’, a new initiative by a group of young volunteers designed to provide practical help to young people looking for companionship and help with developing new job-related skills.

Help celebrate Mothers and Fathers day at local school
We have a special relationship with Roseville Public school and support both Mothers and Father’s day at the school by cooking breakfast so parents can enjoy their special day with their kids. Its one way we can assist local schools.

Support great-work of Lifeline
Supported the greatwork done by Lifeline by providing an awning over their book collection area and assisted upgrading their amenities for the many Lifeline Volunteers at their book depot in East Lindfield.

Each year we also help collect donated food and redistribute to those in need through Christmas Hampers.
We also support Lifeline at their “Giant Bookfairs” each year.

Clean Up Echo Point park
Each year, together with local scount groups we support Clean Up Australia by clearing Echo Point at Roseville.

Help indigenous students with literacy
Moree East is 75% indigenous students. Each year we supply 1000 books to the Moree East Public school for each student to take home for their own personal library. Having access to books in homes enabling students to improve their reading skills has demonstrated improved literacy outcomes. Every year around August we have a fun night of trivia, raffles and on line auctions in support of books in homes for Moree East Primary School.
Bring joy to less fortunate at Christmas
The Tree of Joy program enables gifts to be provided to those less fortunate, unwell or lonely over Christmas.
In conjunction with the Rotary Club of Crows Nest, during November and December we will install over 20 Christmas Trees in businesses throughout our local area. The trees are decorated in cards with requests for gifts from over 15 charities and organisations for their clients who may be suffering over the Christmas period. Customers and others then purchase those gifts and leave them under the tree. Rotary then collects and sorts for the charities to collect. Brightening the lives of those not well off over Christmas
During November and December around 20 Christmas trees will be located in businesses and other organisations from Roseville to North Sydney where Christmas gifts can be left for those less fortunate, vulnerable, disadvantaged or children who are in Hospital over Christmas.
Just collect a tag from the tree, purchase the suggested gift and leave it unwrapped at the base of the tree. We will arrange collection of the gifts and distribution to the nominated charities
The Tree of Joy program has been going for over 30 years and this year we will be supporting around 15 different organisations in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Crows Nest. This wonderful program has been running for over 30 years and helps bring joy to those who are less fortunate, vulnerable, disadvantaged, or children spending Christmas in hospital.
A member from the Rotary Club of Chatswood Roseville will collect the gifts and arrange delivery to the nominated charities, supporting around 15 organisations across our community.
Provide a fun night of dancing to those less able
The Dances to the Nines
This is a great community program where hundreds of ‘special young people’ have fun and fellowship at an evening of music, dancing, and eating. It is organised a couple of times a year with different themes. Its origin was organised by the Rotary Club of Willoughby and the Rotary Club of Chatswood in the late 1980’s .
Provide gifts to kids in Hospital at Christmas
One of the well supported organisations we help at Christmas is the Royal North Shore Hospital Treasure Chest

Acknowledge local workers for their “Pride of workmanship”
Each year the Rotary Club of Chatswood Roseville acknowledges the workmanship of local employees who go about their daily duties with pride. The Pride of Workmanship awards are open to all employees in the local area.
Bunnings BBQ
We conduct regular BBQs at Chatswood Bunnings to fund the various charities and organisations we support. The money is also used for our local community and overseas projects. We hope to see you there.

Community BBQs
We have assisted Willoughby City Council at several of their community days at West Chatswood and at Artarmon.

Rotary Athletic Field, Lane Cove North.
Its not called Rotary field for nothing. The Rotary club was instrumental in helping to fund the required works to establish an athletic field and grandstand at the end of Mowbray Road.
We also helped fund the nature boardwalk on the Lane Cove River at the Rotary Athletic Field.
Provided childrens play park – Cnr Griffith Ave and Babbage Rd Roseville chase
Due to changing demographics, Ku-ring-gai Council suggested the club look at providing a childrens playground due to the increase in new young families moving into the area. The club responded and through its contacts arranged for the playground to be installed.

Provided picnic shelters at Echo Point, Roseville
As a major “hands on” project, the club and through its many contacts identified the need for some picnic shelters along side the water at Echo Point. They have proven so successful, they now need to be booked through the council.
